Independent Chipeta wins Chasefu North by wide margin
INDEPENDENT parliamentary candidate Captain Towani Chipeta has won the Chasefu North seat with 9,698 votes, defeating UPND candidate Victor Muyumba who polled 4,660 votes. The returning officer declared the results peacefully at the constituency counting centre. Ms. Chipeta won by a margin of 5,038 votes. A total of 17,830 votes were cast, with 727 ballots

A total of 17,830 votes were cast, with 727 ballots rejected.
In her victory statement, Ms. Chipeta dedicated the win to residents and pledged to complete pending water and health projects. She cited her previous work drilling 31 boreholes and supplying medicines to health facilities across Chasefu District.
She said her administration would uphold transparency and accountability, and that she would work with all stakeholders regardless of political affiliation.
