Government has reiterated its commitment to digitalize systems across all sectors to increase speed, improve accuracy and eliminate paperwork thereby helping to contribute to the fight against climate change.
Muchinga Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Brian Sichande said moving to a digitalized system is part of the government’s broader reform agenda to modernize service delivery.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary said this when a delegation from the Public Service Management Division (PSMD) and Madison Life Insurance paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Chinsali yesterday.
Mr Sichande said the digital platforms will enable institutions to work faster and keep accurate data while reducing dependence on paper.
“Government is making strides to digitalize government systems and examples to the digitalization agenda include the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) and the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system used in hospitals,” he cited
And PSMD Chief Human Capital Officer- Industrial Relations Misheck Ng’uni , said the funeral scheme digital platform is expected to be rolled out in the first week of October, this year with Chinsali selected as one of the first districts for sensitization.
Mr Ng’uni said that the digital platform for the funeral scheme will allow members to transact seamlessly access services using mobile phones, or computers.
He added that the digital system will allow stakeholders to update data on the portal, including membership details, registration of new family members and parents, without doing paperwork.
Mr Ng’uni stated that PSMD and Madison will however conduct sensitization meetings with stakeholders before it is rolled out.
“The sensitization will be two-fold. We will do the general membership and also going to specifics with the focal point persons that will be assisting members who may be facing challenges in handling the system,” he added
Mr Ng’uni further said once operational, stakeholders will be able to log in, update their details, register beneficiaries and track claims without traveling to offices.
He adds that the move is aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and convenience in the management of the funeral scheme.
