ECZ ordered to produce relevant documents in Mayoral petition

The Tribunal hearing the petition where Gabriel Kibombwe is petitioning the election and declaration of Chitambala Mwewa as Lusaka Mayor, has delivered a ruling in which it has ordered the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), to produce relevant documents for the August 2026 Mayoral elections.

It has also ordered that a witness from the ECZ takes a stand this afternoon to speak to those documents.

This follows an application by the petitioner to the Tribunal to have the documents produced and a witness from the ECZ appear before court.

The Tribunal ordered that the witness appear before court at 14:00 hours with the said documents today, September 24, 2026.
