United Party for National Development (UPND) Members of Parliament (MPs) in Kabwe District in Central Province have pledged to work together to spearhead impactful developmental projects in the area.

Speaking in separate interviews, Bwacha South MP, Sydney Mushanga said he will work closely with his Kabwe Central and Bwacha North counterparts Chrizoster Phiri and Percy Chato, respectively, to push for development in Kabwe district.

Mr Mushanga said Kabwe is a strategic town in need of tangible development.

“As UPND MPs, we have resolved to work together in developing Kabwe for the benefit of the people. We are aware of what the people want and we are equal to the task,” Mr Mushanga said.

Kabwe Central MP, Chrizoster Phiri said the increase in the number of constituencies has put Kabwe on a sound development trajectory through the expanded Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

She said she will work with other MPs in the district to identify projects that could transform Kabwe.

Ms Phiri said the CDF, which currently stands at K40 million, will be used as a vehicle to initiate more developmental projects in the three constituencies of the district.

“We have put behind politics to focus on development. We have already done a lot in the last five years through CDF in various sectors. We will build on that foundation to deliver development for the benefit of the people of Kabwe,” she said.

Meanwhile, Bwacha North MP, Percy Chato said time for politicking is over and that it is now time to focus on development.

Mr Chato said teamwork among elected leaders and those in opposition will be key to the development of Kabwe.

He said Bwacha North Constituency is yearning for development by virtue of being one of the newly-created constituencies.

Mr Chato has also pledged to work with Councilors in the constituency to identify developmental projects that need urgent attention.
