Munali aspiring lawmaker Chrispin Chiinda says he and former Munali MP Mike Mposha have pledged to run peaceful campaigns in their respective constituencies after meeting at a funeral service in Lusaka.
Chiinda, the Resolute Party candidate under the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance, said he met Mposha, his former rival, during a church service at the Presbyterian Church in Kaunda Square.
“We met and interacted with Mike Mposha, the former Member of Parliament for Munali, who is now contesting in Malambo East in Eastern Province,” Chiinda said.
Also in attendance were Syvester Mulenga, Resolute Party aspiring councillor for Munali Ward, and aspiring Munali Ward councillors Paul Mutale and Maxwell Chibwe.
Chiinda said the group agreed to compete on ideas rather than resort to violence.
“As a true son of Munali, I firmly believe that we must remain united as brothers even after the elections. Politics should not divide us. Let love prevail,” he said.
Mposha represented Munali in Parliament from 2021 before announcing his move to contest in the newly created Malambo East in the August 13, 2026 general elections.
