A 14-year-old girl in Sinda district, Eastern Province has given birth to a baby boy following a pregnancy which allegedly came as a result of being defiled several times in the bushes of Wada village in Chief Nyanje.
The incident, which allegedly occurred between December 2025 and June 2026, was reported to Sinda Police Station on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 14:50 hours.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba said the victim was allegedly defiled by a man identified only as Adusha, a resident of Chikwendo Village in Chief Nyanje’s area.
Mr Mweemba said the victim’s 52-year-old mother, Mary Zulu, reported the matter on behalf of her daughter, whom police said is believed to have an intellectual disability.
He said the matter came to light after the victim travelled to Rufunsa District in June 2026 to stay with her elder sister, Misozi Sakala Where the victim was noticed with unusual physical changes but denied being pregnant.
According to Mr Mweemba, a neighbour informed the victim’ sister who had earlier gone to church that her 14-year-old sister had given birth to a baby boy at the house.
Mr Mweemba said the victim identified the child’s father as Adusha.
