NORTHERN ZAMBIA UNION CONFERENCE (SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH) Kitwe Polytech Hospital — Healthcare Employment Opportunities Position: Pharmacy Technologist Reports to: Medical Director Location: Kitwe Polytech Hospital, Kitwe Job Purpose: Assist in preparing, storing, compounding and dispensing medicines in accordance with prescriptions or formulae and the direction of the unit pharmacist. Principal Duties: Manage medicine storage and stock control to maintain pharmaceutical services. Prepare, assemble, label, order, store and dispense medicines and pharmaceutical compounds with appropriate instructions for wards, clinics and patients. Support the training of pharmacy technologists, technicians and other junior staff. Monitor the use of essential medicines and pharmaceuticals to identify needed interventions. Responsibilities & Decision Making: Follow pharmaceutical safety and health requirements. Safeguard pharmaceutical equipment, medicines and their quality. Manage the withdrawal and destruction of expired medicines within authorised procedures and help address irrational prescribing. Prevent shortages and errors that could cause poisoning, death or litigation. Education, Experience and Skills: Full Grade 12 or Form V Cambridge School Certificate. Diploma in Pharmacy Technology from a recognised college and professional registration. Ability to write clearly in English and communicate fluently in English and local languages. Work Environment: Compounding and dispensing areas and field work; substantial physical and mental effort, with potential exposure to chemicals and accidental poisoning.
