Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has publicly addressed the political and military tensions surrounding the resignation of Mykhailo Fedorov, acknowledging that a serious disagreement had developed between Ukraine’s General Staff and the Ministry of Defense.

In a major briefing, Zelensky confirmed that the dispute involved senior leadership on both sides, saying that the two institutions were ultimately unable to reach a common position. The remarks represent the clearest public acknowledgment so far that internal disagreements had emerged within Ukraine’s military command structure.

Despite Fedorov’s departure from the Defense Ministry, Zelensky stressed that he remains an important member of his team and suggested that discussions are underway regarding his future role in government. The president indicated that Fedorov’s exit should not be interpreted as the end of his political career or government service.
