President Hakainde Hichilema has appealed to Zambians to cherish the peace and freedom under his administration as they are prerequisites for continued development in the country.

President Hichilema says his administration has worked hard to develop the country in the past five years, noting that the government initiated policies and programmes that have helped improve the welfare of Zambians.

And the President has disclosed that his administration will complete the solar power station in Chipata in order to increase electricity production in the country.

The Head of State said this today during a community engagement held at Chipata Golf Club.

President Hichilema also said the government will improve the water reticulation system in Chipata, noting that the Chipata -Lundazi road will be worked on and a contractor has already been engaged adding that the Chipata township roads will also be improved.

“Adding on, the Chipata township roads will also be improved to ensure that mobility is eased among residents”, he said.

He said Social Cash Transfer, Free Education Policy, which has now become law, skills training, infrastructure development in the health and education sectors among other programmes were initiated to enhance social economic growth of the country.

“We want to turn the Chipata Central Hospital into a level one Hospital so that people can be treated from within as opposed to being referred to other hospitals due to lack of equipment.

“In order to improve the livelihoods of the people we came up with interventions such as the introduction of free education where children in Chipata are beneficiaries and many others”, The Head of State said.

He added that these developments have been achieved through the prudent utilisation of finances by his administration.

President Hichilema has since appealed to the people of Chipata to vote for the United Party for National Development (UPND) on August 13, 2026.
