The Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) has commended Puma Energy Zambia PLC for launching its PRIS Loyalty Programme, saying it reflects the growing role of digital technology in improving customer service and driving economic development.

Speaking during the official launch last night, ZACCI President, Anthony Kabaghe, said the programme goes beyond customer rewards and demonstrates how businesses can align with the government’s Digital Transformation Agenda.

Mr Kabaghe added that the launch reflects the growing role of innovation and digital technology in transforming the way businesses engage with customers, improve service delivery, and contribute to Zambia’s economic development.

He noted that while the government has laid a solid foundation through the Digital Economy Strategy, the responsibility now rests with the private sector to invest in technologies that improve competitiveness and create value for consumers.

Mr Kabaghe observed that the petroleum retail sector remains a critical pillar of Zambia’s economy, facilitating movement of people and goods.

He said consumer expectations have shifted, with customers now demanding convenience, seamless digital experiences, and greater value.

“It is therefore encouraging to see Puma Energy Zambia responding to these changing market dynamics through the PRIS Loyalty Programme and by integrating digital technology into everyday customer interactions, Puma Energy is enhancing customer experience while supporting broader national objectives such as digital inclusion, financial innovation, and increased participation in the formal economy,” he said.

The ZACCI President emphasised that innovation is no longer optional but essential for business growth and job creation across manufacturing, agriculture, mining, financial services, logistics, retail, and energy.

He further stressed that partnerships between government and the private sector remain critical in building a resilient and digitally driven economy, describing the PRIS launch as an excellent example of what can be achieved when an enabling policy environment is matched by private sector investment and innovation.

Puma Energy Zambia Managing Director, Zwelithini Mlotshwa, who was represented by Head of Corporate Communications, Litiya Matakala, said the initiative is a public promise to customers built on convenience and consistency.

Mr Matakala noted that while nothing changes in terms of Puma’s commitment to innovation and service, everything changes because for the first time customers’ journeys will be rewarded.

“Our customer loyalty experience is designed around one simple truth, customers should feel value the moment they choose to deal with us. With this loyalty programme, every refuel becomes more than a purchase and it becomes a step in a journey that pays back,” he said.

He added that the programme features low thresholds for qualification so customers do not wait months to feel appreciated.

“Appreciation should be like a good service station experience quick, clear, and reliable with no complexity,” he added.

He further noted that the digital loyalty platform supports Zambia’s wider technology agenda by strengthening systems for service delivery, tracking and improvement.

“In short customers get rewards, the ecosystem gains capability and our country moves forward. That is a win that extends beyond any single service station,” he said.
