President Hakainde Hichilema has promised the people of Mwandi district that he will prioritise the Mwandi to Mulobezi road and the Simungoma to Luampa road once re-elected back into office.

President Hichilema notes that the Kazungula-Sesheke road has already been ear-marked for construction and the contractor has been engaged adding that he will soon move on site.

The Head of State expressed awareness of the dilapidated state of the road which will soon be constructed and upgraded to bituminous standard in order to improve on the business transactions along the route.

President Hichilema was speaking during a community engagement in Mwandi district of Western Province.

He has also directed that all volunteer nurses and teachers in the district be given employment immediately.

President Hichilema said the United Party for National Development (UPND) has worked more than any government before it, in providing employment for Zambians.

The Head of State cited the deployment of over 45 000 teachers, over 20 000 Nurses and doctors within 4 years 11 months.

President Hichilema said within the same period the UPND government has also employed a good number of police, Army, ZNS, ZAFF officers.

He said the UPND government deserves to be voted back in power because they have also looked at the plight of the vulnerable through the improved Social Cash Transfer, Cash for Work initiative, bursaries for secondary school and bursaries for skills training among others.

President Hichilema explained that free education has come to stay and to change the life of every vulnerable Zambian child, adding that every child has an opportunity for a better life.

“We will work on network connectivity and we want to make sure that schools are connected to ZESCO so that there’s electricity, ” he said.

President Hichilema has also revealed that once elected back into government, Mwandi district will have a fully-fledged government hospital which will employ nurses and doctors so that even medical operations can be done locally.

He has also promised the people of Mwandi a modern market.

“We will bring more boarding schools here so that the pupils won’t have to walk long distances to access schools,” he said.

President Hichilema said Mwandi is a beautiful place and needs an airstrip so that tourists and the local people can fly in and out without difficulties.

The Head of State has further called on the people in Mwandi to vote for the UPND party in the upcoming August General Elections.

He appealed to the Mwandi to vote for the UPND candidates such as Councilor, Council Chairperson, Member of Parliament and the president.

President Hichilema encouraged voters to avoid the opposition and independent candidates and only vote for UPND candidates.
