The Ministry of Information and Media Assistant Director for Media and Public Relations , who is also Southern Africa Community Development (SADC) Media Awards Adjudication Committee Coordinator, Susan Ndumingu, has urged the media to take a keen interest in entering regional awards, such as the SADC Media Awards.

Ms Ndumingu highlighted to media houses and radio stations that the awards are intended to recognise the best media work shared with SADC, in order to support the process of regional integration, cooperation, trade and development in the region.

She made these remarks during her SADC awards sensitisation and awareness tour of local media houses and radio stations in Livingstone, where she called on them to enter the awards, which are divided into four categories, namely, Photo, Television, Print, and Radio when they are called upon.

The media houses she visited in Livingstone were Radio Maria, Zambezi FM, and ZNBC, where she emphasised that the SADC Media awards sensitisation is ongoing and that more media houses will be visited to create awareness and encourage more Zambians to enter.

The awards which attract a USD2500 first prize and USD1000 second prize categories will open next year on a date to be launched and announced by the Ministry of Information and Media.

Ms Ndumingu has since urged and encouraged media personnel to start preparing and research on the awards now and enter in numbers when the time comes.

“I am encouraging all interested journalists to obtain more information and entry forms from the SADC website,”
