According to a statement issued by Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa, the remains will arrive at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka at 14:35 hours aboard Emirates Airlines.
Dr Katema died in India.
Mr Kangwa said President Hakainde Hichilema has accorded the late former Cabinet Minister an Official Funeral in honour of his distinguished service to the nation.
Mr Kangwa has further stated that the burial will take place on Friday, 7th August, 2026 at Leopards Hill Memorial Park in Lusaka.
“The burial will be preceded by an Official Funeral Church Service at the Cathedral of the Child Jesus at 10:00 hours,” he said
He also said President Hichilema has also declared Friday, 7th August, 2026 a Day of National Mourning in honour of Dr Katema and the mourning period will be observed from 06:00 hours to 18:00 hours.
During this period, all flags will fly at half-mast, Mr Kangwa said.
Dr Katema served as Cabinet Minister during the Patriotic Front administration.
