LUSAKA – The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced a mutual separation with Copper Queens head coach Nora Häuptle.
FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya says the decision was reached following a meeting between the football governing body and Häuptle’s representatives, with both parties agreeing to part ways in the interest of their future progress.
“FAZ can confirm that it has reached a mutual separation agreement with its senior Women National Team coach Nora Häuptle,” Chakatazya said.
“We would like to sincerely thank Häuptle for her contribution to the Zambian game and wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”
Häuptle was appointed Copper Queens coach on 24 January 2025 on a three-year contract.
Haalubono takes interim charge
With the Copper Queens having assignments coming up in the next few weeks, FAZ says assistant coach Charles Haalubono will take charge of the team on an interim basis.
“Considering that we have assignments coming up in the next few weeks, we will allow the assistant coach Charles Haalubono to head the team. FAZ will in due course announce long term arrangements,” Chakatazya said.
FAZ has not announced the circumstances that led to the mutual separation or named Häuptle’s long-term successor.
The association says further arrangements regarding the senior women’s national team will be announced in due course.
Zambian Eye Sports will follow developments on the Copper Queens and FAZ’s search for a new head coach.
