Zambia : FAZ Urges Corporates To Help Fund National Teams

The Football Association of Zambia has appealed to the corporate sector to urgently support Zambian football, saying government cannot carry the burden alone with 11 national teams to run.

The call came today as 1xBet Zambia handed over assorted football and refereeing equipment valued about K120, 000 to FAZ in a bid to ease pressure on resources for teams and match officials countrywide.

The donation included more than 1,300 pieces – match balls, training bibs, cones, discs, whistles, referee flags, referee card sets and equipment bags – aimed at improving training and officiating standards.

Receiving the donation, FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya said while government support remains valuable, the Association’s responsibilities have grown too big.

“The items being handed over today are practical resources that will make a meaningful contribution to football activities and the work of our match officials,” Chakatazya said.

“FAZ has enormous responsibilities, with eleven national teams requiring resources for training, competitions, travel, equipment and technical preparations. This is why we are appealing to the corporate world to come on board and support Zambian football. Government cannot shoulder this responsibility alone.”

1xBet Zambia representative Kafupi Muwana said the company’s gesture reflects its commitment to grassroots and elite football development.

“Football plays an important role in bringing communities together, creating opportunities and inspiring young people,” Muwana said.

“We are hopeful that this equipment will improve training conditions, support the development of young talent and contribute to the continued growth of the game. We encourage coaches, referees and players to make good use of this equipment as we continue working together to create more opportunities for football stakeholders across Zambia.”

The equipment is expected to be distributed to FAZ provincial offices, youth teams, and referees’ associations to support ongoing league and national team programs.
