The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has appointed ZESCO Ndola Girls Head Coach, Florence Mwila and Technical Advisor Wisdom Zulu as first and second assistant coaches on an interim basis to reinforce the Copper Queens technical bench ahead of the back-to-back 2028 Olympic qualifiers against Uganda.

The appointments are with immediate effect.

FAZ General Secretary, Charles Chakatazya disclosed this in a press statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today.

Chakatazya said the two coaches have been called by the FAZ Technical Committee to assist Head Coach, Charles Haalubono prepare the Copper Queens for the two-legged Olympic qualifier against Uganda.

ZESCO Ndola Girls Head Coach, Florence Mwila, who is also Head Coach of the Zambia Under-20 Women’s National Team, guided the Copper Queens to victory at the 2024 COSAFA Women’s Championship as interim coach.

She became the first female coach to lead Zambia to the regional title and previously served as Assistant Coach to the late Copper Queens Coach, Bruce Mwape.

The Copper Queens will face Uganda in an away match in Kampala on October 8, 2026 in their first leg of the 2028 Olympic qualifier, while the return game will be played home at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on October 13, 2026.

Chakatazya said FAZ will continue supporting the technical bench as the Copper Queens seek to qualify for their third consecutive Olympic Games.

The FAZ General Secretary has also called on soccer fans and all football stakeholders to rally behind the ‘girls’ including an all-local technical bench.
