Zambia : Construction Of Ablution Blocks Cheers Lavushimanda Residents

Chamber of Commerce Chairperson Peterson Bwalya, has commended government for the construction of community ablution blocks in Lavushimanda District of Muchinga Province.

The ablution blocks have been constructed under the Zambia Devolution Support Programme at a cost of over 2.3 million Kwacha.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Mr Bwalya said the development will help improve the health and well-being of community members, noting that the area has inadequate toilet facilities, particularly around the market.

He said cleanliness is next to godliness, adding that the provision of such facilities in the district is a commendable development for the community.

Mr Bwalya said the United Party for National Development (UPND) administration should be commended for undertaking the said project.

“We really thank the government because we did not have enough toilets around Mfuwe Market,” he said.

Mr Bwalya noted that the district has great potential for business because it is situated along the Great North Road, noting that travellers will also benefit from the waterborne facilities, particularly the showers which will be housed within the ablution block being constructed at Mununga Lay-by.

Meanwhile, a resident of Mununga area, Mable Ngoma, has expressed happiness with the development, saying the government should continue with such projects.

“I am grateful to the Government for the construction of these ablution blocks,” she said.

And another resident, Kapema Chibuye, said the construction of the ablution block around the market demonstrates that the government cares about the well-being of traders and marketeers.

“We don’t have enough toilets at the market, and this development will greatly benefit the public,” he said.
