Central Province Permanent Secretary Milner Mwanakampwe has urged the business community to take advantage of the Extended Voluntary Disclosure Scheme by the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).

Dr Mwanakampwe says the scheme allows businesses and individuals to disclose previously declared liabilities and settle principal tax obligations with relief from qualifying penalties and interests.

Speaking when he officiated at the stakeholder engagement meeting on the Extended Voluntary Disclosure Scheme organized by ZRA in Kabwe, Dr Mwanakampwe said the voluntary exposure scheme seeks to regularise tax affairs on favourable terms to avoid penalties.

He emphasized that sustainable national development relies heavily on a robust revenue collection and voluntary tax compliance.

He said the government’s goal is to build a prosperous country powered by fair, transparent and collaborative tax administration.

And ZRA Assistant Director Sylvia Mukwiza says the Extended Voluntary Disclosure Scheme has been introduced to address tax-related challenges facing the business community.

Ms Mukwiza says ZRA wants to ensure that every eligible taxpayer in Central Province accesses this opportunity and operates with greater tax certainty and peace of mind moving forward.

Under this programme, taxpayers who disclose undeclared liabilities and settle their principal tax obligation receive a proportionate waiver of qualifying penalties and interest of up to 100 percent.
