According to the latest Zamstats Report, a price of cement is selling at K240 in the Lukulu District of Western Province, which is slightly higher as compared to the same commodity at K158 in Chibombo of Central Province.

 The disparity in pricing is a question that many can ask, according to information gathered by the Zambian Business Times (ZBT), the district in the almost far-flung area of Zambia, with much of the roads in a deplorable state.

Besides, there are high fuel costs for transportation of goods and services, which eventually affect the price of cement, which is an essential commodity in the real estate sector. The district also relies on pontoons and river crossings, which makes the movement of goods and services a bit slow and eventually affects business.

The current year-on-year inflation stands at 6.5 percent for the month of July; however, the hike in the price of cement is a matter of concern for builders and landowners.
