Ukraine Strikes Russian Oil Refineries and Sanctioned Cargo Ship in Overnight Attacks

Ukraine carried out a series of overnight strikes targeting Russian infrastructure linked to the country’s energy and military supply network.

According to Ukrainian authorities, Ukrainian forces conducted long-range strikes in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov, while a sanctioned Russian-flagged container ship named Yanina was also hit. Ukrainian officials said the vessel, reportedly with a capacity of more than 100,000 tonnes, sank following the strike.

In a separate operation, units of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) struck infrastructure at three Russian oil refineries in Bashkortostan, located nearly 1,600 kilometers from Ukrainian-controlled territory.

The targeted refineries process millions of tonnes of crude oil annually, making the facilities significant components of Russia’s energy infrastructure.

Ukraine said the strikes were part of its ongoing long-range campaign against Russian facilities supporting the war effort.
