Zambia Gaming Association Secretary General, Darius Sinkamba, has called for responsible gambling, warning that irresponsible gambling has led to devastating effects, including loss of life.

Sinkamba said while gambling is a source of income and entertainment for many Zambians, irresponsible and excessive gambling has destroyed lives, families and livelihoods.

“Gambling can be a source of income for others, but irresponsible gambling has destroyed people. We have seen devastating effects, including loss of life. That is why responsible gambling must be our priority,” Sinkamba said.

He has also called for strict parental control to curb underage gambling, which he said is on the rise due to online platforms.

“It is unfortunate that some parents have given their children access to funds and smartphones which enables them to gamble online. This is illegal and dangerous. We must protect our children,” he added.

Sinkamba emphasized that the Association will continue to champion responsible gambling, public awareness and compliance among operators to ensure gaming remains safe, regulated and within the law.

He urged operators to enforce age verification and called on parents and guardians to monitor their children’s online activities.
