Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan sign Makkah Joint Defense Agreement

Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan have officially signed the landmark Makkah Joint Defense Agreement on Friday, August 7, 2026, establishing a major trilateral security alliance during a summit held at the Al-Safa Palace in Mecca.

Pact Collective Defense Clause: An armed attack against any one of the three countries will be regarded as an attack against them all.

Mutual Deterrence: The alliance is built to strengthen collective deterrence against all forms of external aggression.

Defense Integration: The pact institutionalizes high-level intelligence sharing, deeper defense-industrial integration, and enhanced military cooperation across all sectors

Framework Openness: A Turkish official stated to Reuters that the agreement is purely defensive, does not replace existing bilateral deals, and remains open to other regional nations.
