FOOTBALL Analyst Yotham Mwanza has called on the Zambia National Football Team to adopt a strong defensive approach and secure a positive result when they face Algeria in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Friday, September 25, 2026

Mwanza said the Chipolopolo should target at least four points from their two upcoming qualifying matches against Algeria away and Togo at home.

Mwanza described the squad assembled by Coach, George Lwandamina as a strong team, noting that the locally based players have spent sufficient time in camp and developed cohesion before being joined by professionals playing abroad.

He stated that a victory in Algeria would be ideal, but a draw would also provide Zambia with a valuable point ahead of the home fixture against Togo, which will be played three to four days later at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Mwanza has urged the technical bench to ensure that the team remains solid defensively, maintains strength in midfield and delivers a sharp attacking performance.

Another Football Analyst, Kutela Machona recognised Algeria’s experience, including its participation in the FIFA World Cup, saying Zambia would face a difficult challenge playing away from home.
