President Hakainde Hichilema has underscored the importance of maintaining peace, and unity as the country makes efforts in accelerating social and economic development.
President Hichilema says the government remains committed to continuing developing the country and that this can only be achieved if peace and unity is sustained in the country.
Speaking when he addressed thousands of Mbala residents at a community engagement today, President Hichilema said government policies such as the free education will continue permanently to ensure every child has access to learning.
He urged the people of Mbala to vote for him and United Party for National Development (UPND) candidates in this year’s general elections for continued development.
The President has highlighted ongoing investments in the education sector, including the provision of school desks, the school feeding programme, and the recruitment of teachers as some of developments that will continue to change lives of the people if the UPND is given another mandate.
He said the government would continue employing health workers, teachers, and other qualified professionals, adding that volunteer health workers and nurses would also be considered for employment.
He has thanked traditional leaders in Mbala District for their continued support to government developmental programmes.
And Senior Chief Nsokolo of Mbala commended President Hichilema for the many developmental projects being implemented in the district.
Senior Chief Nsokolo cited the first phase of the construction of Chief’s palaces, the free education policy, the enhanced Constituency Development Fund (CDF) as some of the programmes that give hope to traditional leaders and their subjects for a better Zambia.
And the traditional leader appealed to the President to consider opening the Zombe Border Post saying it will enhance cross-border trade.
He further appealed to government to prioritise the rehabilitation of the Mpika–Mbala Road, which he said is key to improving transport and economic activities in the region.
