Nakonde driver Chatowa Silungwe has been laid to rest in Isoka following his tragic death at the hands of unknown assailants who attacked his home and allegedly stole a client’s Toyota Land Cruiser.

Silungwe’s remains were taken from Nakonde to Isoka, where he was buried this afternoon, with family, friends, colleagues and members of the clearing industry turning up in large numbers to escort him to his final resting place.

The deceased had moved to Nakonde about two years ago and had been working as a driver in the district.

Silungwe was killed on Friday night at his home in Katozi Village after unknown armed men reportedly entered the premises and stole a Toyota Land Cruiser that he was expected to drive to Lusaka.

According to information surrounding the incident, Silungwe allegedly confronted the armed assailants before he was killed.

His death has left members of the local community and colleagues in the clearing industry mourning the driver, whose remains were escorted from Nakonde to Isoka for burial.

Police in Muchinga Province have since opened investigations into the incident, which has been recorded as murder and aggravated robbery.

No arrests have been made so far, while the stolen Toyota Land Cruiser has also not yet been recovered.

The circumstances surrounding the killing remain under investigation as police work to identify the assailants and establish the events that led to Silungwe’s death.

As his family and loved ones laid him to rest in Isoka, those who knew him gathered to pay their final respects to the Nakonde driver whose life was tragically cut short.
