VACANCY: MECHANICAL ENGINEER (SOLAR PV PROJECT) Company: China Power Engineering Group Project: Ilute 33MW Solar PV Plant Construction Project Location: Sesheke, Western Province, Zambia Position Type: Full-Time / Contract JOB SUMMARY China Power Engineering Group is seeking a qualified, highly motivated, and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to oversee the mechanical engineering aspects of the 33MW Solar PV Plant project located in Sesheke, Zambia. The successful candidate will be responsible for structural mounting design execution, mechanical equipment installation, quality control, and compliance with national and international safety standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversee site assembly and installation of mounting structures, tracker systems, PV module framing, and inverter enclosures. • Supervise civil and mechanical site contractors during foundation piling, torqueing, and mechanical assembly phases. • Ensure all mechanical works comply with project specifications, design drawings, and quality standards. • Conduct torque testing, structural alignment checks, and quality assurance audits on mechanical components. • Coordinate with electrical and civil engineering teams to ensure seamless interdisciplinary workflows. • Enforce strict Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards across all mechanical works on site. • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly mechanical progress reports for project management. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Eng / B.Sc) from a recognized institution. • Fully registered member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) with a valid practicing license. • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in industrial construction, steel structures, heavy mechanical assembly, or renewable energy. Solar PV experience is a strong advantage. • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, structural schematics, and CAD software. • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. • Ability to work in a multicultural site environment under tight timelines. • At least three (3) professional references from previous engineering supervisors or employers.
