IRAN THREATENS SOUTH KOREAN ASSETS IN GULF

Iran has warned that South Korean military and economic interests across the Persian Gulf could become targets if Seoul joins the US-led mission to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian academic Mohammad Marandi told Iranian state television that Tehran could target South Korean assets in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE and Qatar.

The warning comes as Seoul considers sending a P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft, a naval logistics support ship, and potentially a navy explosive-ordnance disposal team to support US efforts

South Korea is walking into a trap. It wants to please Washington. It is risking becoming a target.

What does South Korea gain from joining a conflict it has no stake in, and what does it lose when its assets become targets.
