Mutotwe Kafwaya Confirmed Dead After Kabulonga Operation

Former Lunte Member of Parliament Mutotwe Kafwaya has been confirmed dead following a joint security operation in Kabulonga on August 14.

According to the Central Joint Operations Committee, security officers exchanged gunfire with individuals at a residence during an intelligence-led operation, leaving one unidentified man fatally wounded.

The man was rushed to hospital but died upon arrival.

The CJOC says, following reports that Kafwaya was missing, his family was contacted and positively identified the deceased as Mutotwe Kafwaya.

The confirmation comes shortly after Kafwaya’s wife, Dinis Ng’andu Kafwaya, sought leave from the Lusaka High Court to commence habeas corpus proceedings, challenging his continued detention.
