2026 National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity -NRPUP- Presidential candidate Brian Mundubile and his running mate Makebi Zulu have been handed over to police and are currently being interviewed.
Police Spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi has confirmed the development to ZNBC News, saying the two opposition leaders are being questioned by a team of law enforcement officers in the presence of their lawyers.
Mr. Chilabi says police will issue an official statement once the interview process has been concluded.
The questioning follows a police summons issued to Mr. Mundubile and Mr. Zulu as part of investigations into alleged activities which police say have the potential to threaten national security.
The two opposition leaders had been under the protection of the United Nations in Lusaka.
