The governments and people of Lesotho and Eswatini have congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election as President of Zambia.

The government and people of the Kingdom of Lesotho, through its Embassy in Addis Ababa, congratulated the people of Zambia for exercising their democratic right and wished President Hichilema success as he assumes the renewed responsibility of leading the country.

The Embassy expressed confidence that President Hichilema’s second term will further deepen the fraternal relations between Zambia and Lesotho for the mutual benefit of the two peoples, stating that the strengthened relations will also contribute to regional integration, peace, stability and sustainable development in Southern Africa.

The Embassy noted that Zambia and Lesotho share longstanding bonds of friendship, solidarity and cooperation, anchored on the two country’s common membership of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), African Union (AU) and other multilateral institutions.

Meanwhile, King Mswati III of Eswatini, who is the current Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation (Troika), has also congratulated President Hichilema on his re-election.

In a message conveyed on behalf of the King and people of Eswatini, King Mswati III extended heartfelt congratulations to President Hichilema and the people of Zambia on the electoral victory.

The King expressed confidence that Zambia will continue to enjoy peace and tranquility under President Hichilema’s leadership.

He said Eswatini was ready to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two countries for the mutual benefit and enrichment of their peoples.

King Mswati III also wished the people of Zambia continued progress and prosperity.
