United Party for National Development (UPND) Parliamentary Candidate for Zambezi Central Constituency Dennis Kayombo Maano has called for calm and an end to violence as legal proceedings over the disputed election results get underway.

Addressing the media in Lusaka, Monday, Maano urged residents to remain patient and allow the courts to resolve the matter.

“I urge residents to remain patient and allow the courts to resolve the matter,”he said.

Maano also displayed a damaged ballot box and torn ballot papers allegedly from Kateta Polling Station, which he described as one of the contentious polling stations in the constituency.

He said his lawyers are working to ensure that the petition is properly prepared and filed within the 14-day period prescribed by law.

The petition is expected to be filed before Friday, August 28th, 2026.

Maano explained that the petition is intended to seek justice and ensure that electoral disputes are handled through the law rather than violence.

He further assured residents of Zambezi Central that the outcome of the court process would be respected, regardless of the decision.

Maano has since appealed to residents to remain peaceful and await the court’s determination.
