Kinglong Motors Zambia Limited has handed over 100 fuel tankers to the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts in a deal expected to benefit about 12,000 youths across the country.
The empowerment programme is aimed at increasing youth participation in the importation and transportation of petroleum products, while helping to retain profits within Zambia and potentially reduce fuel prices.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe said the donation aligns with government’s agenda to put young people at the center of key economic sectors.
“The government wants young people to play a greater role in the petroleum sector,” Chileshe said.
He said the programme was designed to promote youth participation and contribute to reducing the cost of petroleum products.
“The fuel tanker empowerment programme is designed to enable youth involvement and participation in this sector with the expectation that it would reduce the price of petroleum products in Zambia,” he added.
The PS said putting Zambians in the driver’s seat of fuel logistics will keep money circulating locally.

Chileshe disclosed that the fuel tanker empowerment programme was launched in 2020 with the aim of reducing youth unemployment and localizing petroleum market profits.
He urged beneficiaries to use the tankers productively “to build sustainable businesses and contribute to national growth.”
Meanwhile, Kinglong Motors Zambia Limited General Manager Wu Ming commended the Ministry for its continued efforts to create opportunities that enable young people to participate meaningfully in the economy.
He said the gesture forms part of his company’s corporate social responsibility.
He pledged the company’s commitment to youth empowerment in the country.
