Kasaba wins Ndola mayoral Seat

A former Deputy Mayor of Ndola, Kennedy Kasaba, has been declared winner of the Ndola Mayoral contest after he got 60, 486 votes.

Mr Kasaba of the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) beat six other candidates in the August 13, 2026 election to emerge winner.

Ndola District Returning Officer, George Mulenga, declared Mr Kasaba as winner at Ndola City Council Lowenthal Theater Hall.

Mr Mulenga said the other candidates were Ms Sharon Nsofwa of the United Party for National Development (UPND) who came second with 40, 581 while the immediate past Mayor, Jones Kalyati of the Resolute Party (RP) came third with 26, 681.

“Other candidates were a former Mayor, Davies Chiwala, who stood on an Independent ticket and got 4, 022 and another Independent candidate, Wilson Kango who got  3, 906, “he said.

He added that Christopher Mwamba who stood on the United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) got 1, 617 and an Independent candidate and Mr Mfungo Mulenga polled 1, 524.

Mr Mulenga said 4, 497 votes were rejected bringing the total number of votes cast to 143, 314.

The total number of registered voters in Ndola is 271, 013 indicating that the voter turnout was 52.8 per cent.
