Kabwe man charged with forgery, altering a false document

The Kabwe Magistrate’s court has adjourned the matter to August 28, 2026 in which a -48-year man of Kabwe District is charged with forgery, as well as altering a false document contrary to the law.
ZANIS reports that this is in a matter in which Eaton O’Connor, an Engineer by profession is before court, faced with forgery contrary to section 342 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
In another count, O’Connor is also being charged with the offence of altering a false document, contrary to section 352 of the Penal code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
It is alleged that, O’Connor on 15th August, 2024 in Kabwe District, with intent to defraud or deceive, did forge a letter of surrender of 1000 shares in the names of Priscilla Njobvu, purporting that Njobvu intended to surrender the shares when in fact not.
In count two, it is also alleged that on August 15, 2024 in Kabwe District, O’Connor with intent to defraud or deceive, did alter a false document namely a letter of surrender of 1000 shares to Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA).
And when the matter came up for plea before Principal Resident Magistrate Mubita Kalaluka, Oconnor denied the charges and pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Principal Resident Magistrate Mubita Kalaluka then adjourned the matter to 28th August, 2026 for the commencement of trial as O’Connor remains on Police bond.
The matter is being prosecuted by Creig Nkoma, Senior prosecutor from the National Prosecution Authority and the accused is being represented by Paul Chiteta from Paul Chiteta and Company.
