Kabwe District Commissioner Lennox Shimwambwa has expressed concern over the failure by Kabwe Municipal Council to work on feeder roads in the district.

Mr Shimwambwa told the media in an interview that most feeder roads remain in a deplorable state despite the local authority having access to earthmoving equipment and funding for fuel.

He said the district administration was concerned about the slow pace at which the local authority was addressing the poor state of feeder roads.

 “It is sad that our feeder roads in Kabwe are still in a bad state despite the Council being empowered with all the necessary earthmoving equipment. Government has gone further to provide funds for fuel for the yellow machines,” Mr Shimwambwa said.

Mr Shimwambwa urged the council to improve its performance and deliver much-needed development for the benefit of residents.

He said Government had invested heavily in earthmoving equipment through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to improve service delivery.

Mr Shimwambwa said the equipment should be used for its intended purpose of improving feeder roads in communities across the district.

Meanwhile, Mr Shimwambwa has assured the people of Kabwe of well-coordinated development initiatives over the next five years.

He said teamwork would be central to development efforts in the district, in line with Government’s devolution agenda.
