Secretary to the Cabinet, Patrick Kangwa, has confirmed that the venue for the forthcoming inauguration ceremony for the President-elect, Hakainde Hichilema, is ready for Tuesday, September 1st, 2026.

Speaking during his tour of Heroes Stadium, Mr Kangwa assured that he is impressed with the work done so far by all stakeholders.

 Mr Kangwa thanked the combined inauguration committee for a job well done and for sticking to the planned organisation.

Following his tour of the site, he expressed his satisfaction with the progress made.

He also commended the committee, which was assembled 70 days ago to oversee the preparations, for a good job done.

Following the 2026 general election that was held on August 13 2026, President Hakainde Hichilema was duly announced by the electoral commission of Zambia as president elect and will be inaugurated as President of Zambia on Tuesday 1st September 2026.
