The Commonwealth, the Kingdom of Morocco and Republic of Namibia have congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election as Republican President.
In separate statements made available to ZANIS, the three leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening relations with Zambia and supporting its continued development under President Hichilema’ second mandate.
Commonwealth Secretary General, Shirley Botchwey, said the Commonwealth looks forward to continued engagement with Zambia in support of the aspirations of the Zambian people.
“The Commonwealth remains committed to its long-standing relationship with Zambia and looks forward to continued engagement in support of the aspirations of the people of Zambia,” Ms Botchwey said.
Meanwhile, King Mohammed VI of Morocco reaffirmed his commitment to further consolidating the ties of friendship and brotherhood between Morocco and Zambia.
In another statement, Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said Zambia and Namibia share a special and enduring friendship forged through their common history and the sacrifices made during the liberation struggles of Southern Africa.
“Namibia and Zambia share a special and enduring friendship, forged through our common history and the sacrifices made during the liberation struggles of Southern Africa,” she said.
The messages come as President Hichilema prepares to commence his second mandate, with Zambia continuing to strengthen diplomatic and international partnerships.
