Rehabilitation works at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka are expected to be complete, in readiness for the inauguration ceremony for President—elect Hakainde Hichilema.
Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts Principle Public Relations Officer Nchimunya Ng’andu disclosed that the government is procuring a turf protector from South Africa, to safeguard the grounds, indicating that works are progressing well.
Mr Ng’andu confirmed this to journalists at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, shortly after a delegation led by Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet Oliver Kalabo inspected the facility and were impressed with works done so far.
The PPRO highlighted that the works on the project which is being implemented through a multi-sectoral approach began in June, this year in preparation for the inauguration.
He further revealed that Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa is expected to inspect the facility on Friday, August 28th, 2026 .
