PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema is set to launch a high-stakes campaign blitz across his traditional political stronghold of Southern Province, aiming to rewrite Zambia’s electoral history books this week

The tour marks a monumental homecoming to his birthplace, where his political journey first took root, as he seeks to consolidate his core base ahead of the general election.

With the province’s registered voter count surging toward the one-million mark, the region has transformed into an indispensable electoral jackpot.

The President’s strategic return is designed to showcase an extensive portfolio of localised development projects executed during his tenure, bridging the gap between past promises and tangible results.

From enhanced agricultural support and expanded social cash transfers to critical infrastructure upgrades, the administration is betting heavily that visible economic progress will lock in an overwhelming mandate.

This aggressive provincial sweep will push President Hichilema’s total campaign rally count past the unprecedented 65-plus rally milestone in 19 days.

Achieving this figure sets a new historical benchmark in Zambia, officially crowning him as the most active campaigning president in the nation’s democratic history.

Political analysts view this relentless grassroots mobilisation as a clear signal that the ruling party is taking no chances, choosing to aggressively defend its heartland while maximizing voter turnout.

As the presidential convoy prepares to roll into the Southern province this week, local party organs are reporting massive mobilisation on the ground.

The upcoming rallies are expected to draw historic crowds, setting a high-octane tone for a national campaign where geography, history, and development converge.

Since launching his re-election bid on June 28 this year outside National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, President Hakainde Hichilema has addressed 65 campaign rallies across Zambia.

The June 28 massive rally marked the start of the President’s campaign programme, as he seeks a fresh five-year mandate from the over 8.7 million registered voters for the August 13 vote.

On July 1- 2, President Hichilema held rallies in Mwinilunga, Solwezi, Chavuma, Zambezi, Kabompo and Kalumbila districts of North-Western Province.

On July 3 -4, he was in Nkeyema, Luampa, Kaoma, Lukulu, Mitete, Sikongo, Kalabo and Mongu districts of Western Province.

President Hichilema addressed rallies in Chitambo, Serenje and Mkushi districts of Central Province on July 5.

On July 6, he went to Kapiri Mposhi, Kabwe and Chibombo districts in Central Province.

On July 7 and 8, the President took his campaign message to Masaiti, Mpongwe, Kitwe, Chililabombwe, Chingola and Ndola districts on the Copperbelt Province.

On July 9 and 10, President Hichilema went to Chama, Chasefu, Lundazi, Lumezi, Nyimba, Petauke, Lusangazi and Sinda districts in Eastern Province.

On July 11, the President had rallies in Luangwa, Rufunsa and Chongwe districts of Lusaka Province.

Shantumbu area (Kafue district), Chilanga and Kafue town rallies – all in Lusaka Province – were held on July 12.

On July 14, President Hichilema addressed rallies in Lavushimanda, Mpika, Kanchibiya and Shiwang’andu districts of Muchinga province.

On July 15, he went to Nakonde, Mafinga, Isoka and Chinsali districts – still in Muchinga Province.

On July 16 and 17, the head of State campaigned in Chilubi, Kaputa, Nsama, Mporokoso, Mpulungu, Mbala, Mungwi and Kasama districts of Northern Province.

On July 18, he went to Chienge, Nchelenge, Kawambwa and Mwense districts of Luapula Province

Yesterday, July 19, President Hichilema campaigned in Lunga, Chifunabuli, Samfya and Mansa districts in Luapula Province.

This week the President  is scheduled to kick-start Southern Province tomorrow rallies in various districts.
