Speaking to the Media today, Commission Chairperson Choolwe Beyani said the extension follows concerns raised by applicants over the limited time available for verification, as well as the logistical and financial challenges involved in travelling to Provincial and District Health Offices.
Dr Beyani said verification will continue until October 9 at Provincial Health Offices for medical doctors and pharmacists, while applicants in other health professional categories will verify their details at District Health Offices.
He said the decision is intended to give applicants adequate time to confirm the accuracy and completeness of information submitted during the recruitment process.
Dr Beyani explained that verification covers applicants’ personal details, academic and professional qualifications, positions applied for, professional registration details where applicable, and other supporting documentation.
He said the exercise is also aimed at ensuring that the recruitment database accurately reflects applications received by health authorities.
“The Commission initially scheduled the verification exercise to run from September 1 to 11, 2026, but it commenced on September 2 following the declaration of September 1 as a public holiday for the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony,” added Dr Beyani.
Dr Beyani has further clarified that verification is not mandatory.
He stressed that choosing not to verify will not, in itself, disadvantage an applicant in the recruitment process.
Dr Beyani has urged applicants wishing to verify their details to use the extended period and follow official guidance issued by the Civil Service Commission.
He has since directed Provincial and District Human Resource Officers under the Ministry of Health, to provide applicants with the necessary assistance and guidance during the verification exercise.
