THE Department of Social Welfare in Shangombo District has distributed 124 bicycles and raincoats to members of the Community Welfare Assistance Committees (CWACs) to enhance their mobility.

Shangombo District Social Welfare Officer, Telas Phiri, handed over the bicycles and raincoats to the beneficiaries.

Mr Phiri said the bicycles are intended to ease the movement of CWAC members as they execute their duties in their respective areas of operation.

“The CWAC members are very important to our department because they are the eyes of our department. They bridge the gap between the community and the department,” Mr Phiri said.
