A 32-year-old man has been injured after being struck by a passenger train at Kalobe Railway Station in Chisamba District.

Central Province Police Commanding Officer Lemekani Chirwa confirmed the incident, saying it happened around 02:00 hours on Wednesday.

Mr Chirwa identified the victim as Mabvuto Shamoonga of Shelies Farm in Chisamba District.

He said the train, operated by 66-year-old Danford Chikwete, was travelling from south to north when it struck Mr Shamoonga, who was lying on the railway line under unknown circumstances.
