Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary Kelvin Mambwe says Government is encouraged by the progress being recorded under the Catch-Up Programme, which is helping learners in schools acquire foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
Dr Mambwe notes that Zambia has drawn valuable lessons from India’s education system, particularly the Catch-Up programme which has contributed to improving learning outcomes among learners.
The Permanent Secretary said this when an Indian delegation on education led by Sarvendra Singh paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Lusaka today.
Meanwhile, Indian delegation leader Sarvendra Singh said reports and recent research findings indicate that the Catch-Up Programme has achieved encouraging results despite challenges encountered during implementation.
