FRA Pays Farmers K3 Million Within 24 Hours of Depot Opening

The Food Reserve Agency -FRA – says all farmers who supplied maize worth over 3 million Kwacha have been paid today.

This is in 24 hours after the opening of the 1,749 satellite depots across the country yesterday.

In an interview with ZNBC News today FRA Executive Director JUSTIN CHUUNKA said the agency disbursed more than 3 million Kwacha for the 467.35 metric tonnes of maize bought yesterday.

Mr. CHUUNKA explained that farmers are receiving payments faster and have already accessed their money.

Mr. CHUUNKA has urged farmers to continue taking the crop to the depots and that satellite management committees are managing the sites.
