Police in Mumbwa have arrested a 47-year-old man for allegedly having sexual intercourse with his 14-year-old biological daughter.

The incident is reported to have occurred between an unknown date in July 2026 and September 13, 2026, at Mambule Village in Shakumbila Chiefdom, Mumbwa District.

Police say the victim was allegedly assaulted by her father in their one-roomed house in July after he called her inside, grabbed her, slapped her when she attempted to raise an alarm, and had sexual intercourse with her. The suspect allegedly warned her not to tell anyone.

The victim later disclosed the matter to her mother, but the report was allegedly ignored. On September 13, 2026, the suspect allegedly took the girl into the bush, where he again had sexual intercourse with her and warned her against disclosing the incident.

The victim subsequently reported the matter to her teacher, who reported it to Mumbwa Police Station. A docket was opened, a medical examination form was issued, and the suspect was apprehended and detained in police custody pending court appearance.

This is according to a statement issued by Central Province Police Commissioner Lemekani Chirwa.
