SOCIAL media personality Elias Musyani has been released on police bond after being charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Musyani, 33, of Makeni Bonaventure, confirmed he was detained, investigated and formally charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving. He is scheduled to appear in court to answer to the charge.

“As confirmed by the Zambia Police spokesperson, indeed Elias Musyani was involved in a fatal road accident resulting in the unfortunate death of one person,” Musyani said.

He said the accident occurred along Ring Road and that efforts to rush the woman involved to hospital were unsuccessful.

According to Musyani, he was released on bond in accordance with standard Zambia Police traffic procedure.

He condemned “malicious, unverified reports” circulating on social media about the incident and said he would pursue legal action against those responsible.

“The loss of a life is truly regrettable. As a family and from myself we offer our heartfelt and sincere apologies and condolences to the bereaved family,” he said.

Musyani appealed for privacy for the deceased’s family during their period of mourning.

“This is a traumatic time for all parties involved. We plead with the general public, particularly for sympathy and respect for privacy to the family of the deceased as they are mourning their loved one.”
