“Saved The Best For Last”: Wicknell Chivayo’s Last X Post Sparks Emotional Reaction After Fatal Helicopter Crash
Wicknell Chivayo’s final post on X has taken on a striking new significance following his death in a helicopter crash in Marondera on Wednesday, 30 September 2026.
Posted at 8:20am, hours before the fatal crash, the businessman began his message with the words, “APPRECIATING RELATIONSHIPS BUILT OVER DECADES…SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST…”
What followed was a lengthy tribute to two lawyers who had been part of his life and business journey for decades.
By Wednesday night, the post had become a major talking point on X, with users focusing less on the luxury gifts and more on the wording of Chivayo’s final message.
“Saved The Best For Last” Leaves X Users Talking
Several users reacted to the timing of the post after news emerged that Chivayo was among those killed in the Marondera helicopter crash.
One user asked:
“First line.. saved the best for the Last?”
Another wrote:
“Saved the best for Last???”
The phrase prompted more emotional reactions after Chivayo’s death was reported.
One user wrote:
“‘Saved the best for last’ his last tweet. Life is unpredictable!”
Another questioned whether Chivayo somehow knew that the post would become his final one.
“Did he know he is about to die? Sad…”
Others simply pointed to the timing, with one user writing that it was “saved the best for LAST indeed”.
The reactions reflect how quickly an ordinary phrase can acquire a different meaning after an unexpected tragedy. There is, however, no evidence in the post showing that Chivayo knew he was about to die.
Chivayo’s Final Message Was About Longstanding Relationships
The post itself was focused on appreciation.
Chivayo said lawyer Wilson Tatenda Manase had known him since 1998, when he was living in one room in Hillside and trying to establish himself.
He described Manase as a father figure, mentor, brother, adviser and trusted confidant.
Chivayo then announced a 2026 Lexus GX 550 valued at US$220,000 (approximately R3.6 million), together with US$250,000 (approximately R4.1 million) in cash for Manase.
Advocate Sylvester Hashiti was also promised a 2026 Range Rover Sport Autobiography and US$500,000 (approximately R8.2 million) in cash.
Chivayo closed the lengthy message with another passage that has since attracted attention.
“THANK YOU you for the counsel, the mentorship, the friendship and above all for simply being there through the years.”
He ended with:
“CONGRATULATIONS to you both and enjoy your money and new cars…GOD BLESS.”
Fatal Marondera Crash Changed The Meaning Of The Post
Police confirmed that an aircraft carrying six people crashed in the Marondera Rural area at about 5pm on Wednesday. Government spokesperson Nick Mangwana later confirmed that there were no survivors.
Reports subsequently identified Chivayo and his wife, Lucy “Lulu” Muteke, among those killed.
The timing has led many social media users to revisit Chivayo’s final X post and interpret its wording through the events that followed.
That interpretation is coming from readers, however, rather than anything Chivayo stated himself. His post does not indicate that he knew it would be his last.
For many who followed Chivayo online, the post now stands as his final public message on X — one centred on gratitude, relationships and the people he said had supported him throughout his life.
