Bishop Chomba elected Kankoyo MP as Independent

FORMER Minister of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection, Bishop Edward Chomba, has been elected Member of Parliament for Kankoyo Constituency after polling 6,372 votes. Mr. Chomba, who stood as an independent candidate, defeated incumbent Mabeta Headson of the UPND, who received 3,186 votes. Speaking after the declaration, Bishop Chomba thanked residents for their support.

FORMER Minister of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection, Bishop Edward Chomba, has been elected Member of Parliament for Kankoyo Constituency after polling 6,372 votes.

Mr. Chomba, who stood as an independent candidate, defeated incumbent Mabeta Headson of the UPND, who received 3,186 votes.

Speaking after the declaration, Bishop Chomba thanked residents for their support.

“I am deeply humbled and grateful to the people of Kankoyo for the landslide victory you have given me in the August 13 General Elections. Thank you for trusting me with the Kankoyo Parliamentary seat. This is your win; I am only here to offer service and nothing else,” he said.

NRPUP’s Chishala Mwango finished third with 3,070 votes. Independent Wisdom Ngirwa polled 1,108 votes, Independent Derick Musonda got 296 votes, and Zambia Must Prosper’s Kaumba Cleton received 82 votes.

Voter turnout was 14,460, with 346 ballots declared invalid.
