Aliko Dangote has said that corruption during Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration frustrated his plans to invest in Kenya’s cement sector.
He revealed that his company left plans for a cement factory in Kenya after Uhuru’s allies demanded bribes and kickbacks.
He explained that his company refused to pay because it has a strict anti-corruption policy.
He said the demands for kickbacks to secure approvals and land forced him to walk away from the investment.
In 2018, Dangote said that some individuals in Kenya were more corrupt than Nigerians and had discouraged him from investing.
Dangote credited President William Ruto for facilitating his plans to set up a Kshs 2.2 trillion oil refinery in Lamu.
