THE ceremonial official opening of the first session of the 14th National Assembly by President Hakainde Hichilema will take place on Friday, October 9th, 2026, at Parliament Buildings, in Lusaka.

In his address to the National Assembly, President Hichilema is expected to give policy direction for the country for the year 2026/2027.

Clerk of the National Assembly, Loveness Mayaka announced and confirmed the development in a statement in Lusaka on Friday.

Ms Mayaka stated that Members of Parliament will, thereafter, proceed to debate policy pronouncements contained in President Hichilema’s speech. 

The Clerk further called on all stakeholders and the general public to follow the live proceedings of the National Assembly on Parliament radio and Television as well as other National Assembly online platforms.
